Today the RESOURCE I read was about how 90-year old chain smoking avoid lung cancer while other people who smoke far less wind up dying of the disease and how some people light up now and then without getting hooked, while others are addicted from there first puffs. Scientist have IDENTIEFIED certain genetic variations that appear to make people more likely to get hooked on cigarettes and more prone to develop lung cancer, now they could SEEK new ways to find treatments for smokers trying to kick the habit, that was something interesting that I learned, that’s weird because I think that’s why I didn’t get addicted after smoking cigarettes for a while I thought I was, but I wasn’t quitting was easy for me.

Today I read about Wall Street pulled back sharply for the second straight session Tuesday, after an unexpected contraction in the service sector rekindled investors' worry that the economy is headed for recession. The Dow Jones industrial average fell more than 200 points. The Institute for Supply Management's January report on the service sector, which accounts for about two-thirds of the economy, came in well short of Wall Street's forecast. The index dropped to 44.6 last month from a revised reading of 54.4 in December. A reading below 50 indicates contraction; it was the first service-sector contraction in more than four and a half years. Analysts had been expecting another month of growth. The weak ISM report sapped Wall Street's already-dissipating enthusiasm over Microsoft Corp.'s bid for Yahoo Inc. Banc of America Securities lowered its rating on Yahoo to neutral from buy, saying the proposed acquisition could run up against regulatory challenges, according to Dow Jones. The bank said regulatory difficulties could be steepest in the European Union.
I think they tried to TRANSFER the money into a second account. The RESOURCES say that they will be in the way of intercepting the money. They are SEEKING the money as we speak.
Charges sought for 3 of 9 third-graders in plot on teacher
Allegations that third-graders hatched an elaborate plot to knock out, handcuff and stab their teacher were met with shock by neighbors and without doubt by psychiatry experts who said it is unlikely that children that young seriously intended to hurt anyone. Police say the plot at center elementary school began because the children, ages 8 to 10, were apparently angry after the teacher disciplined one of the students for standing on a chair. Students brought a crystal paperweight, a steak knife with a broken handle, steel hand cuffs and other items as part of last week’s plot. They said nine students were involved, but prosecutors are seeking juvenile charges against only three of them.
Why would little kids think of doing these things.
Why would parents leave these weapons in front of them.
I think parents should check their backpacks you may never now what they could have.
The article I read today is about a missing woman still missing the 48-year-old woman was last seen march 24, when she walked her son to Barnard elementary school in point Loma at 7:30 a.m., her ex-husband is a possible suspect in the case. Detectives on Friday searched Henry lisowski’s house in ocean beach and a day later served a search warrant on his boat at Quivira basin on mission bay. They also searched the water under his boat and have not revealed the results of the search. Henry who is representing himself in the divorce did not show up for yesterday’s hearing. Rosa lisowski tried crossing the U.S. border about six times her husband claimed.
My reflection is he is not a suspect because they have no evidence that he done it.
My opinion is they should look in the woods.
40 YEARS IN PRISON=I read today in the news paper that they sentence a lady for 40 years in prison for slaying. I also read that Geraldine Meyers shot her ex boyfriend in the head. Ms. Meyers got charged with second degree murder for the death of Demetrious James Warren 30 years old. She told the judge that she was sorry for what she did and the mother of Mr. Warren read a letter to the judge that she had wrote saying that Warren shocked and threatened her . So Ms. Meyers just felt that she was suppose to defend her self. They also stated that they had an argument just before every thing happen.
But the mother stated that she actually assaulted him twice before. The judge ended up giving the lady 40 years in prison. I think that they could’ve just gave her shorter sentence for that if she was trying to remove her self . Things happen for reasons and probably she wasn’t the lucky one. I think this is unfair but its going to be alright.
A recently changed law enforcement policy has many people wondering how much power off-duty authorities will be able to have. County law enforcement agencies developed guidelines for off-duty officers who encounter criminal activity. These agencies worked together with the American Civil Liberties Union and the Coalition for Justice and agreed on this countywide policy change mid 2007. The policy by San Diego Police Chiefs and Sheriffs Association says police officers retain there policing authority even when off-duty. Although retaining there police authority officers are supposed to consider other alternatives such as calling the appropriate authorities before taking action. These policy’s are under heavy fire as a string of off-duty police shootings have occurred.
Reflection: I don’t think off-duty officers should still have their policing authority once they are off-duty. I feel that police obtaining that authority isn’t good because then incidents like the recent off-duty officer shootings occur.
Reflection: I think before officers get involved in an incident while off-duty they should call other authorities who are on duty.
Reflection: This policy is good in certain ways and bad in certain ways, because police who are off-duty can go on “power trips”
My Opinion: Only time will tell if this change in policy will have positive effects on society or more negative consequences.
Today in the union tribune, I read that right now every phone company is trying to copy the world famous iphone. Among other things, the CTIA trade show provides a sneak preview of cell phones that will arrive over the next year or so. Every manufacturer seemed to have a multimedia iphone competitor. Other trends included a wider variety of consumer phones that connect to high-speeds data networks and phone gadgets and services for mobile commerce. Microsoft is showing off a new windows mobile operating system with consumer friendly features including one that mimics one of the iphones most popular attributes: a web browser capable of zooming in to render full-sized web pages readable on little screens. Samsung also unveiled a phone clearly influenced by the iphone. While a Samsung spokesman avoided mentioning the apple product by name, he pointed out several features where the new instinct phone stacks up well against the iphone. The instinct will connect to Sprint’s new 3.1 megabit per second network. The iphone connects to the slower of AT&T data networks, which ranges between 40 and 80 kilobytes per second. Iphone fans had hoped for a CTIA announcement of a faster iphone. While the announcement hasn't happened, speculation of the faster, or 3gb, version has been fueled by recent shortages of iphones at apple stores and long times through apple’s online store.
