Article; “Twisters kill 55 despite warnings”
Summary; This morning I read an article on the twister that took place on Tuesday in the South. There were several warnings that were being broadcasted before hand but it still took 55 lives along with it. Many people across the South took shelter and saved their lives. Others simply, had nowhere safe to go or the storms proved to be too powerful. There were 55 people dead but thousands injured after the storms. It was not only one tornado, there were dozens of storms taking place at once. The tornados hit across Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. Everyone/s homes were affected by these storms.
Reflection; I feel bad for everyone who was affected by this tragedy. I hope that people around the nation can help them out like they did for Hurricane Katrina.
Interesting Fact; It was the nation’s deadliest barrage of twisters in 23 years.
Yesterday Three pedestrians were killed in accidents around the county yesterday. The first occurred on Friars Road, near the Fashion Valley mall, just after 6 p.m. A 54-year-old man walked into westbound traffic, outside the crosswalk, and was struck by a 2006 Mercedes-Benz sedan driven by a woman who was heading west, San Diego police said.
The second took place about a half-hour later on Mapleview Street, near state Route 67, in Lakeside. A sport utility vehicle struck a man near the rodeo grounds, the California Highway Patrol said.
The third accident happened just before 7 p.m. on Sweetwater Road, near Olive Street, in Lincoln Acres when a car struck a pedestrian, the CHP said. This is very sad story.
“Economists warn that county isn't Recession-proof”
►What I read on the newspaper today was that the USA its trying to do everything to prevent the recession, some civics boosters boated that the region was immune to recession, cushioned by its diverse industries, stable military presence and strong tourism business, but as the nation appears to be healing into a recessions, a growing number of economists fear that the county’s sagging housing market and weakening employment could pull it under as well.
►I don’t agree because no body wants that.
►Also I don’t agree because the government its trying hard.
►And also don’t agree because we don’t need another recession.
►I think the most interestiong fact its that we may go to recession.
Union Tribune: School with 7 students likely to close.
Today I have read an article about the smallest school in the county. This school has been on since 1950 and will likely be shut down for good at the end of the school year. Only seven students attend that school, and next years projections are no more than four. Tonight people are going to vote to weather they are going to keep the school or not. It is not looking so good for the school. Because the state reimburses school districts based on enrollment, the district stand to save about 80,000 annually by closing the school and busing the students about 20 miles to Valley Center. Efforts to save the school have failed in recent years. Superintendent Lou Obermeyer said she will reluctantly recommend tonight that the school be closed. I think that they should close this school because well they are only a few students and they can go somewhere else. Plus the district will be saving money for other schools that really need it.
