“Suicide Blast Israel’s First in a Year”
►What I read today in the newspaper was that in this incident one woman was killed by a bomber; the second bomber was shot dead by police. This attack was the first attack since 2007. a wounded man was about to be helped by the doctors, but as soon they opened the jacket they saw a “belt-boom” then the police moved in and killed the man before it could detonate the explosive. The terrorist had bags of gas attached to his body which he just could detonate.
►I don’t agree with this because he is killing people.
►I also don’t agree because he is not just killing people, he is killing innocent people.
►I also don’t agree because what would police said to the people that die? “your ‘related’ just died in a boom attack, sorry and have a nice day”?
►I think the most interesting fact its that this bombers think that they will go to paradise.

Today I read that in NEW YORK – Wall Street pulled back sharply for the second straight session Tuesday, after an unexpected contraction in the service sector rekindled investors' worry that the economy is headed for recession. The Dow Jones industrial average fell more than 200 points. The Institute for Supply Management's January report on the service sector, which accounts for about two-thirds of the economy, came in well short of Wall Street's forecast. The index dropped to 44.6 last month from a revised reading of 54.4 in December.
A reading below 50 indicates contraction; it was the first service-sector contraction in more than four and a half years. Analysts had been expecting another month of growth.
The weak ISM report sapped Wall Street's already-dissipating enthusiasm over Microsoft Corp.'s bid for Yahoo Inc. Banc of America Securities lowered its rating on Yahoo to neutral from buy, saying the proposed acquisition could run up against regulatory challenges, according to Dow Jones. The bank said regulatory difficulties could be steepest in the European Union.

Union Tribune: Suicide blast Israel’s first in a year.
Today I have read an article on Israel’s attack. A Dr. Baruch knelt down to help a man that critically wounded from a suicide bomb, he pulled off his jacket and realized that he had an explosive belt around him. The man was a second attacker, he had been knocked out from the first blast. The first blast yesterday killed one women and wounded eleven other people. This was the first suicide attack inside Israel since January 2007. When the Doctor realized what it was he jumped and began waving at police so they could help. The police started shooting at him until he died because they did not want him to detonate the explosive. The doctor said it was a small gas canister and small plastic bag attached to his body. Israel’s officials think that they entered through the Egyptian border. In Gaza, gunmen fired in the air and relatives of the bombers passed out sweets to celebrate the bombings. I think that it is so sad what is going on in there. I think that our troops should go into Israel and make sure that it is secure.

Women shot in a srtip mall

Five women at a strip mall were shot to death by a shooter that the police have not identified yet. One of the women was a social worker, the other was a nurse. The gunman shot five women, the manager of the store, and four customers. A witness described the man to be tall and black and wearing a black trench coat. The sixth woman that was shot survived and was immediately rushed to the hospital were she received critical work. This tragic accident took place in the Downtown strip mall in Chicago.

I think that the police should put more effort in finding this gunman because he seems as if he would come back and do it again if he is not caught.

Article; “Crime Watch”

Summary; This morning’s blog is based on the Region Update article I read inside the newspaper. The article I chose to read about was, “Crime Watch,” because it just sounded interesting. It was a robbery that took place in La Mesa Saturday night at around 6:25 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of robbing the local Arco convenience store and assaulting the clerk who attempted to stop them. It is said that two men were involved. That they walked inside, implied they had a gun, and demanded the money from the cash register. Once the clerk refused to hand over the money, the men grabbed a bunch of candy from the front desk and walked out without paying. The clerk then followed them outside and threw a gallon of milk at them. But that did not stop them men, the men kept walking. The clerk continued to follow them outside the store and that was when one of the robbers decided to turn around and punch him. Then one of the men threw a trash can at the clerk. As soon as the clerk was on the ground, the men both drove off in a Dodge pick up truck. The truck was seen later that day and one of the men were arrested. Authorities are still looking out for the man involved in the robbery.

Reflection; I think it’s really dumb of these guys to rob candy from a convenience store. I hope that they are caught and ordered to do some community service. It’s really sad that they are choosing to get arrested over some candy

The California Coastal Commission is trying to decide if building a toll road on that would connect the San Diego and Orange counties would be a good idea. The toll road would cross through the Donna O’Neill habitat reserve and the San Onofre Beach. The idea seems very immoral and even ironic since these places have been both set aside to offset previous damage done to the area. But since both counties have been growing in population they need more space to expand. In this case the freeway connecting leading to both regions is always packed due to the traffic of people coming and going. So, some suggested to build a toll road that would connect both counties but in doing so they would harm and damage the natural habitat that has been set aside for that purpose only. Defendants of the road say that there would be no damage done to the natural environment but that is a ludicrous idea. Everyone knows that with the urbanization of natural places humans always bring destruction, pollution and damage. I think it would be a really bad idea to construct the road in places that are specifically set aside to be protected and observed as natural habitats.

The story I read today was about a high school coach, he had gotten in a fight with a student from the other school in a soccer match. People that were there had said that the coach had choked a student and then punched another one that tried to stop the coach from coking the other student. The school had said that they always taught sportsmanship at the school and they are getting a lot of media attention.

Article: President presents $3 trillion budget

Summary: President Bush sent the congress a $3.1 trillion budget yesterday. Bush gave that budget to the congress so that they would increase military spending and curb the growth of Medicare and Medicaid. The only defect of the president giving that budget is that they will raise the federal deficit by nearly $250 billion, a major set back for a president who is trying to restore his credentials as a fiscal conservative. Bush is used the 2009 budget to champion on some of his favorite causes. He wants to earmarks and making his tax cuts permanent. Republics conceded yesterday that its value was mostly, if not entirely symbolic. Bush had hoped to preside over a shrinking of the federal deficit in his final year in office.
Reflection: I think Bush is doing this just so he can leave the country all messed up and he doesn’t have to deal with the problems. He just want to leave it all up to the new president that is going to go into the office next. He probably thinks what he is doing is right.

Interesting Facts: From 2004-2007 budget dropped substantially and Bush believes that it will go back up to $410 Billion in 2008.

No. 2 Event in U.S. TV History

The Super Bowl on Sunday was the number two event in U.S. television history. The Giants played against the Patriots. 97.5 million people saw the game on television. That Super Bowl made it the most watched Super Bowl in history. Only the “M*A*S*H” series finale in 1983, attracted 106 million viewers. It is estimated that at least 148.3 million people saw some part of the game. The game ended 17-14 in favor of the Giants. That was a great ending.
I learned that they actually now what you are watching. I think that’s crazy. A lot of people watch the Super Bowl.
I liked when the patriots lost the game.

Today in the union tribune, I read that in san Francisco- Microsoft’s 41 billion dollar take over bid appears to have backed Yahoo into a corner, leaving the struggling internet pioneer with the unpleasant choice of selling to a detested rival or pursuing other agonizing alternatives that likely would require to help another foe, Google. That appeared to be the consensus emerging among analysts yesterday as Wall street awaited Yahoo’s response to last weeks unsolicited offer from Microsoft. Yahoo says its board is going to be take its time reviewing Microsoft’s bid along with other options that could keep the company independent. At the end of the day, I don’t think they are going to able to turn down Microsoft, said technology investment banker Peter Falvey of revolution partners, voicing a widely held sentiment. But if Yahoo spurns Microsoft, analysis believe it probably will have to swallow its pride and forge an advertising partnership with Google- if the alliance could win the antitrust clearance. Under this scenario, Yahoo would rely on Google to runs its search engine while joining thousands of other websites that depend on the internet search leader for a study stream

♥ The article I read about this morning was about a coach that was arrested on Friday February 1st. The coach got arrested for choking a soccer player and punching another. The soccer players where students from Otay Ranch High School as well as soccer players from the school. The coach that got arrested was coach Eduardo Jimenez Arenas, he is 39 years of age. Arenas bail is $130,000, his court day I believe is today. The principal of San Ysidro high school the school where Arenas coaches at, Mr. Hector Espinoza said that coach Arenas will not be returning to coach the soccer team of San Ysidro High School this year. Espinoza said that he isn’t sure if he’ll let him coach next year. It was a very shocking game on Friday or both schools.
♥ I think that what this man did is crazy. I love soccer its my favorite sport and I can imagine what would of happened if either one of those students would have been me. I hope that this man does not go back to coach or anything cause if it happened once it could most definitely happen again.
♥ An interesting fact that I read in this article was that the student that he punched was only trying to stop the coach from chocking the other student.
